Engineering & purchasing FAQ
The practical questions before a manufacturing program starts.
A concise starting point for gearmotor selection, DFM, multi-category coordination, validation, and delivery planning.
How do I select the right gear ratio and motor combination?+
Share the target output speed, load torque, duty cycle, installation space, voltage, quantity, and timing. KEY-CRON can structure the selection discussion and recommend a ratio and motor direction; a torque-speed curve can be reviewed against the intended operating point.
Can you manufacture from our drawings or CAD files?+
Yes. We can review 2D drawings such as PDF, DWG, or DXF; 3D files such as STEP, IGES, or SolidWorks; physical samples; or reference products. The design is reviewed for manufacturability before tooling or production commitments are made.
Can shafts, connectors, and housings be customized?+
Yes. Shaft geometry, connector type and pinout, housing material and finish, mounting pattern, and other mechanical or electrical interfaces can be defined around your application requirements.
Can you coordinate a project with plastic, metal, electronics, and assembly as well as the gearmotor?+
Yes. When the project needs several manufacturing categories, KEY-CRON can coordinate the related DFM inputs, supplier handoffs, sample sequence, assembly interfaces, agreed quality checkpoints, and delivery readiness through one project path. The exact scope is confirmed for each program.
What is the minimum order quantity for a custom project?+
MOQ depends on the scope of customization. Modified standard configurations usually start at a lower volume, while fully custom projects may require tooling investment and an agreed production quantity. Share your expected annual volume and timing for a practical recommendation.
Do you support NDA and IP protection?+
Yes. An NDA can be put in place before technical information is exchanged. Ownership, tooling, drawings, CAD data, and confidentiality requirements should be confirmed in the project documentation before work begins.
Can I work with engineers in English, and what documents are available?+
Yes. KEY-CRON supports English-language engineering communication for DFM feedback, tolerances, test requirements, drawing approval, and project updates. Available documentation is confirmed by project and may include datasheets, dimensional drawings, test records, packing lists, material declarations, or program-specific quality files.
How are noise requirements handled?+
Noise performance can be addressed through gear design, material choice, backlash control, and housing considerations. For acoustic-critical projects, define a target dBA level together with the rated speed, load, distance, and test conditions so the verification plan can be agreed before shipment approval.
